Due to my calculations by using the rank size rule, I have concluded that it is not a valid way to estimate Malaysia's 5 largest city populations. The 2nd ranked city, Ipoh, has an estimated population of 830, 212, the actual population is HALF of the estimated population used by the rank size rule. In the end, the rank size rule won't be able to take into consideration of all the various factors that contribute to Malaysia's actual population.
